Membership Fees
The initial fee for registration and certification for two years is $175. This includes a one-time $25 application/examination fee and a $75 per year registration and certification fee for two consecutive years. There is a $25 fee for a new certificate reflecting the change in Certification status.
* Continuing Education Requirements
The America Association of Counseling & Psychotherapy requires continuing education for recertification in a manner similar to other groups in the Healing Arts and Counseling Professions.
The current requirement for Continuing Education is 24 hours for each two-year recertification
1. Continuing Education Requirements shall be met by attendance at any seminar, workshop or training course in which the content of the program is deemed appropriate to advance the specialized education of the therapist.
Submit copies of diplomas or certificates of completion along with your The America Association of Counseling & Psychotherapy(AACPT). Certification renewal. Include the name of the instructor and the school or sponsoring organization.
2. Continuing Education credits can be achieved by:
a. Attending courses offered by a state licensed vocational school teaching therapy courses toward the Defined Occupational Title of Therapist and holding a current 'Approved School' certificate issued by the The America Association of Counseling & Psychotherapy(AACPT).
b. Attending courses offered by a therapy instructor who has been in full-time practice for not less than five years, and holds a current 'Approved Therapy Instructor' certificate from the The America Association of Counseling & Psychotherapy(AACPT).
c. Attending courses in an accredited college or university, offered by a credentialed instructor, on the topic of Therapy or other topics which advance specialized education for the counselor/psychotherapist.
d. Special exceptions, including approval of home study courses, may be granted upon application to the Continuing Education Committee.
